FP1 & FP2
The first session was a wet one, which I was looking forward to as we haven’t had much time in the wet. It was good to get out there and get a feel for it however, I didn’t get many laps in due to some red flags. Due to this, I struggled to build on a good lap time but the laps we did get were valuable enough to give us data for the wet. We finished FP1 in P26.

The second practice of the day was dry and it was great to be able to push hard and prepare for the weekend ahead. I managed to find a good rhythm and put together some really good laps. This then gave me a positive feeling for qualifying that we could push on and improve on our lap time. I finished the combined practices in P19.

Qualifying
This was a tricky qualifying for me. I went out in a good group and managed to go quicker than I ever have done before and I was sitting in the top 15 for the first half. But I came in to have a breather but when I went back out, I struggled with track position and couldn’t improve on my lap time. This left us in P24 which isn’t where we wanted to be however, I knew that the pace was there just needed to work hard in the races.

Race 1
I was feeling confident in my ability to push through and try to get to the front group in the first race. I managed to make up a good few places in the early stages which put me in the points, then a safety car came out which bunched us all up. Unfortunately I didn’t capitalise on this and was unable to make up more places. However, I was happy with the P15, gaining 9 positions. I also managed to get a decent lap time in which put us in P18 for race 2.

Race 2
My game plan was the same for this race: just keep on moving forward and try to get to that front pack. Unfortunately, weather had different plans as it rained 30 minutes before the race so we were left in a tricky situation with tyre choice. Ultimately, we decided to stick with drys which turned out to be the right call, so I got stuck in on the race and managed to get myself into P14 and had a great battle for it.
Overall a positive end to what was looking a tough weekend! The team and I never gave up
